With over four decades in the business aviation industry, Skyservice has earned its reputation, but managing such a wide-reaching operation brings its own set of complexities, especially when it comes to technical document management and regulatory compliance monitoring in aviation. Jean Marcellin, their Chief Pilot, oversees a fleet of 65 aircraft and 13 Fixed Base Operations (FBOs) across Canada and North America, ensuring safety and excellence in their day-to-day operations.
Historically, Skyservice relied heavily on traditional static tools such as PDFs or Word documents to manage regulatory and operational documents, including authoring and distribution. Jean Marcellin recalls the challenges of this process: “The documentation process was typically based on a Word file, converted into a PDF, and then published to the company via apps or emails (…) We were just working with existing PDFs, so that was a headache where editing a PDF was becoming unmanageable.”
Web Manuals came out as the most approachable, friendly, and future oriented platform that we could look at.

The turning point came in 2023 at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) conference. Skyservice was actively seeking a more efficient solution for their day to day and long term document management needs. After evaluating several options, they decided to partner with Web Manuals, a decision Marcellin describes as transformative. “Web Manuals came out as the most approachable, friendly, and future oriented platform that we could look at. We were looking for a partner that we could work with in terms of implementing solutions or being creative with issues that we had, rather than having to adopt somebody else’s way of doing things.”

Optimizing the Documentation Process
Implementing Web Manuals was no small feat, given the sheer volume of mixed operational, flight, and regulatory documents Skyservice needed to onboard. However, the support from the Web Manuals team made a significant difference, and the benefits were immediately apparent. The ease of editing aviation manuals, seamless role-based document distribution, and intuitive compliance tracking enabled reliable and scalable processes.
“Web Manuals has tremendously streamlined things”, Jean states. “We are able to publish manuals and aircraft documents to specific stakeholders in the fleet, or we are able to share them with external stakeholders of the company in a very intuitive way. Now it’s a couple of clicks and whenever we need to update something, compliance tracking is super easy as well.”
Skyservice’s adoption of Web Manuals coincided with the launch of the new Reader app, which made an even smoother transition. “We just got to see the brand-new system, which was excellent for us,” says Marcellin. “Since then, we’ve seen new features and the roadmap ahead, and we’re excited about what’s coming.”
The transition to Web Manuals significantly enhanced Skyservice’s tactical and strategic deployment of knowledge through standardized yet dynamic processes, transforming complex processes into straightforward operations. “With Web Manuals, we centralized all the required paperwork and manuals needed to support efficient flight operations on one platform—ensuring that the latest updates were easier for our team to access”

Additionally, leveraging the Web Manuals network of partners across Canada has streamlined the creation of compliance libraries, saving Skyservice countless hours.
The benefits of Web Manuals were particularly evident during audits “Being able to go straight to Web Manuals and quickly pull aircraft-specific or company-specific manuals to show compliance was a huge asset,” Marcellin shares. These audits underscored the value of having a reliable, centralized documentation system for FAA and Canadian compliance.
For Jean, the partnership with Web Manuals goes beyond just software. “Interacting directly with the Web Manuals team through events like GO DIGITAL has been enlightening. I’ve discovered that we share a lot of cultural goals and a focus on excellence. Knowing that we’re working with like-minded people reassures me that we’ve made the right decision.”
A vision for Skyservice’s future
Looking ahead, Skyservice continues to experience significant growth. Jean envisions a future where the entire company fully leverages Web Manuals, creating a unified ecosystem for document management and regulatory compliance. “This would not only streamline our operations but also enhance safety”
Marcellin has a clear message for other companies considering a digital transformation: “Do it now. The longer you wait, the more painful it will be. Web Manuals is the partner you need. The onboarding process might seem daunting but trust the team to guide you. The benefits far outweigh the initial challenges.”
