About

What is the Web Manuals Foundation?

The Web Manuals Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2017. The Foundation is financed by 3% of the dividends of Web Manuals International and falls within the social impact program 1-2-3 Forward, which involves all Web Manuals employees.

Our goal

The aim of the Web Manuals Foundation is to create conditions for education and entrepreneurship for young women, especially in developing countries. By initiating and financing education and support for entrepreneurship, as well as other locally established initiatives, the Foundation strives for positive social development with promotion of democracy and eradication of poverty.

Web Manuals and UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

While Web Manuals strives to supporting all of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), we focused specifically on the following seven goals in 2022:

The goal of the Web Manuals Foundation is to create opportunities for education and entrepreneurship for young women, particularly in developing countries. By initiating and financing education, entrepreneurship support, and other locally established initiatives, the Foundation aims for positive societal development by promoting democracy and eradicating poverty.

Web Manuals aims to promote good health and well-being for its employees as part of its Employee Experience program, which includes healthcare benefits, wellness benefits, a rehabilitation program, and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. The Web Manuals Foundation collaborates with the Trailblazers Mentorship Foundation to provide education in reproductive and sexual health to youth in developing countries.

The Web Manuals Employee Experience program o􀌸ers numerous opportunities for initial and ongoing career training and development for its employees. In 2023, 72 employees participated in over 160 training sessions and conferences. Additionally, the Web Manuals Academy conducted over 260 high-quality training sessions in Malmö, San Diego, and Singapore, with approximately 800 participants from customers and partners. The training sessions received an average rating of 9.3 out of 10. Finally, the Web Manuals Foundation contributes to providing young women with opportunities to complete basic education and further education programs in entrepreneurship.

The Web Manuals Employee Experience program has several measures in place to ensure equal treatment and opportunities for all employees, regardless of gender. Out of 20 managers in the company, 7 are women, but only one out of five in the Web Manuals board is a woman. Web Manuals also participates in industry initiatives aimed at reducing gender disparities in the aviation industry, such as IATA’s 25by2025 initiative. The Web Manuals Foundation aims to provide expanded educational opportunities for women in developing countries, which will help these women have greater opportunities in the workforce and achieve economic independence.

Web Manuals has offices located in buildings in four cities across three different countries. The offices in San Diego and Malmö are situated in Green Building-certified properties, while the office in Singapore is located in a building awarded the BCA Green Mark Award. The Green Building certification entails requirements for the building to be operated in an energy-efficient and cost-saving manner.

Web Manuals’ Legal, Ethics, and Employee Experience programs and policies aim to ensure a positive work environment for Web Manuals employees as well as employees of partners and suppliers. Through its continued global growth, Web Manuals contributes to economic development in communities where the company operates. In 2023, Web Manuals hired 26 new employees and continues its expansion in Malmö, San Diego, New York, Singapore, and Sydney.

the Hunger project

Partnership with the Hunger Project

The Web Manuals Foundation’s main purpose is that of giving young women in developing countries access to education and opportunities to entrepreneurship with the overarching objective of eradicating poverty and support the spread of democracy in the world.

As a first investment in line with the purpose of the foundation, the Web Manuals Foundation entered into a three-year partnership with The Hunger Project; a global not-for-profit organization working to end hunger and poverty by creating innovative and sustainable development strategies at grass-root level, focusing on women. The Hunger Project has established over 200 development centers (epicenters) in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

During 2017, board member Julia Larsson participated in an investor’s trip organized by The Hunger Project to a couple of epicenters in Ghana, Africa. The main purpose of the trip was to study the methods of The Hunger Project to understand how the Web Manuals Foundation could manage its own initiatives in the future by focusing on eliminating inequalities, changing people’s mindset, strengthening their self esteem and thereby supporting communities to grow and develop by themselves.

Below she shares her experience and insights from the trip.

“It was truly impressive to see and hear about the villagers’ devotion and willingness to change their life to the better. With the right mindset, a lot can be achieved by very few means. I have never encountered such level of pride as when the women shared their life stories and told us what they had accomplished with the help of the epicenter. In some cases they had been granted a microcredit to start a small business, resulting in an economically independent life, or been able to accumulate enough savings for their children’s school attendance”.

“Another memorable moment was when we participated in a fairly new program in one of the epicenters. It is an educational program for young girls and boys that aims to educate them in child marriage, children’s rights, and gender roles. The girls presented one thing they had learnt during the course of the program. No older than eight-twelve years of age, they were determined that education was more important than to get married. Some agreed that having children before a completed education would lead to a lower chance of becoming self-reliant. Others already knew what they wanted to study and become – a doctor, and the president of Ghana”.
